The heart of Milestamp

When is maintenance proof?

A service book is a collection of marks made by a rubber stamp that any stationery shop will sell you. A spreadsheet is a spreadsheet. Both say something about how careful the owner is, and nothing about what was actually done to the car.

Milestamp does not solve that by distrusting the owner, but by making the distinction visible: who wrote this entry?

Stamped

Written by a garage

  • Written by a business whose RDW accreditation has been checked.
  • Cannot be edited or deleted by the owner.
  • Carries that garage’s name, visible in the timeline and the report.
  • Recorded in a log that keeps track of who wrote what, and when.
Owner-entered

Typed by the owner

  • Everything the owner notes down: an invoice, a job on the driveway, an imported car.
  • A full part of the logbook — often the most interesting part of it.
  • But never presented as though a third party had confirmed it.
  • Considerably more convincing with a receipt attached than without.

Both belong there. The difference is that nobody has to guess which is which — and that a buyer can see the balance between them for themselves.

How a garage gets into the register

  1. 01

The garage signs up with its company name and RDW accreditation number.

  2. 02

Milestamp checks that number against the open RDW register of accredited businesses. If the company is not in there, it stops.

  3. 03

Only after manual approval can the garage look up registrations and write services. Until then it can do nothing.

  4. 04

Every write is recorded: which garage, which employee, which moment.

Those checks do not sit in the website but in the database itself, so they also hold for someone bypassing the app. Security describes how that is set up.

Frequently asked questions

+Can an owner change or remove a garage entry?

No. An entry written by a garage is read-only to the owner. If something is wrong, the route to fixing it is a correction through that garage — not a quiet edit.

+Can someone pose as a garage?

Anyone can sign up; not everyone gets in. A registration is checked against the RDW register of accredited businesses and approved by hand before a single entry can be written.

+What if the seller simply leaves out the awkward entries?

They can do that with any record, including a shoebox full of invoices. What Milestamp does do: the garage entries that are there are demonstrably real, and the report states how many entries came from a garage and how many the owner entered. A logbook with zero garage entries is a signal in itself.

+What exactly does a buyer see?

The car, the maintenance entries with date, odometer reading and category, and the origin of each entry. Not the name, address or email address of the seller.

+Does the link keep working after the sale?

No. As soon as a car changes owner through a transfer code, every share link the previous owner made stops working. The logbook travels; the access does not.
